After receiving the IMPACT award, the team put out a call for volunteers (Sarah Farahat, Grace Chen, John Tucker, Lindsay Holiday, Savannah and Sage Becenti, and Sitou Akolly) with whom they worked on the immediate restoration of the buildings.
With the help of the Navajo Mountain community and the Drake family they managed to cleaned the grounds, secured and cleaned the main classroom complex as well as fixed its roof. After the first week, they organized a community dinner together with the local Chapter House on the grounds of the boarding school. Over 50 members of the community gathered and shared their stories. The project has received approval and blessing from elders. In the following weeks, the team, together with several workers hired generously by the Chapter House to help with construction work. During the restoration, part of the team has also worked on starting an archive of stories and other material about the boarding schools. That summer, the project has been conclude with a basket weaving workshop lead by Jenny Begay.
